Hello El Oro Way Charter for Enriched Studies,
It was a pleasure to meet new students and welcome back our returning students this week. The students did a fantastic job learning their new schedules. Thank you to the El Oro Way PTA for hosting so many welcome back events! The PTA picnic for the UTK and Kindergarten families was last Saturday. What a wonderful way to build community. Thank you also for the delicious lunch for staff on Wednesday as the staff and faculty prepared to open the school year. The Tears to Cheers on Monday morning was also appreciated as new families had a chance to meet the community!
Starting this morning, the regular school drop off procedures began. I am going to start with some friendly reminders about our morning drop-off procedures and the importance of a timely start to the school day.
The bell rings at 8:00 AM and the gates are closed. For our students, starting their day on time with their classmates is a critical part of their routine and a key to their academic success. It allows them to settle in, connect with friends, and be present for the important morning announcements and lessons. When students arrive late, it can disrupt their routine and the learning of the entire class.
We know that our school can be a busy place in the mornings, and that's why we ask that you plan accordingly for congestion, traffic, and finding a place to park. The walk from a block away can add a few extra minutes, so please factor this into your morning routine to ensure your child arrives safely and on time.
If your child does happen to arrive after the 8:00 AM bell, please accompany them to the main office to sign them in and complete a tardy slip. This helps us ensure the safety of every child and accurately track attendance.
Thank you for your partnership in making every school day a positive and successful experience for our students. We appreciate your efforts in helping them start their day right.
Back to School Night has been planned for Thursday, August 21, 2025. There will be a General Session in the school auditorium at 5:45pm with a presentation from Principal Choi to introduce the staff and present the orientation material for the English Learner Advisory Committee and Local School Leadership Council. Classroom Visits will be at 6pm and 6:30pm. Each teacher will present twice, you only need to attend once. The intended audience is parents/guardians only. Supervision is not provided. The playground is closed to all persons.
