Today, El Oro Way received a free jazz concert to schools from the LA Jazz Society to celebrate February - Black History Month. An ensemble of talented musicians performed in two assemblies for the student body. The students participated in parading around the Auditorium with the trumpet and tenor saxophone players as they played The Saints Go Marching In. Later in the show some students were selected to play various percussion instruments as they marched. The music included Theme from Pink Panther, Theme from Addams Family, Ragtime, Hello Dolly and more. I hope that both jazz musicians and jazz fans were inspired today. Be sure to ask your child which instrument and song they enjoyed most!
