Hello El Oro Way Charter for Enriched Studies Learning Community,
A few reminders about school procedures that I have noticed are regarding safety at drop off/pick up and external deliveries to school.
It is the responsibility of all adults to drive, park, cross streets legally and safely. If your child is dropped off or picked up by a family member or anyone who does not receive these emails to parents and guardians, please let them know that safety is the responsibility of every member of the school community. There has been an increase in jaywalking, illegal parking in the red zone and intersections, as well as speeding. The gates close at 8:00am - plan to drop off your child before that time. Some students who arrive at 8:00am find that the class has already been picked up by the teacher and left the playground and subsequently marked tardy by the classroom teacher.
External deliveries are accepted until 9:00 am. Designated staff deliver items at that time and no more items are accepted. This includes homework, supplies, water, snacks, lunch. Set up a routine for success and prepare materials in advance. The drinking fountains are filtered and maintained. School lunch is provided at no cost to families. We are working to provide uninterrupted instruction in classrooms.
I hope the PTA community events of the movie day last Saturday and the dance later today have been fun opportunities for you to build strong relationships within the community. Thank you to the PTA volunteers for putting on these events!
Best,
Ms. Choi, Principal
