Hello El Oro Way Charter for Enriched Studies Learning Community,
Thank you to the families who donated Bubbles and supplies for Gratitude Week! The students had a wonderful time with bubbles on Tuesday afternoon! The goal is for our school community to SPREAD KINDNESS LIKE BUBBLES!
The LAUSD Phone Free Policy that begins in January 2025 as we return from winter break has been covered in the local news. School specific additions to the requirement of no phones/smart watches/non-smart phones will be announced to the community.
For families who attend El Oro Way Charter through the charter permit, this is the final reminder that Unified Enrollment On-Time Application window closes on Friday, November 15, 2024. If there are any siblings who you wish to bring to our school through this process, they only qualify for the sibling priority for seats that may be available if they apply during the “on-time” period.
Our amazing PTA is holding a Book Fair next week. The Preview Day was today and all classes got a chance to preview the selections.Be sure to set up their EWallet if you wish. The Bookfair will be held the following week for all classes. Parents may come in to shop after school with their children on Monday until 3:15pm and Tuesday till 2:15pm. Parents will need to pick up their children first, then enter through the gate by the Main Office once 1st grade students are dismissed. It usually takes 1st grade about 10 minutes and so starting at approximately 2:40pm, parents will be able to enter the campus with their children to walk to the Bookfair in the Library. Students are not to leave the playground or classrooms to go directly to the Library to meet their parents. Again, parents are to pick up the children and then go to the Book fair together. The Playground Gate will not be available for parents and children to enter for the Bookfair. The gate to enter campus will be the gate by the Main Office.
Social emotional support - student learning is supported through strong social skills. Our school counselor Ms. Ibarra has been supporting the students this year through activities at recess and lunch and through classroom visits and lessons. Our school’s BEST Behavior Program teaches, supports, and rewards students with strong social skills through the weekly incentives. Our Kindness & Diversity program also encourages our students and community to expand kindness and diversity through the community events. Also, students have been selected to receive recognition for being excellent citizens. There will be a ceremony on November 19th. At this ceremony, 4th and 5th graders who have earned academic awards will also be recognized. All parents of students receiving recognition have been invited through individual letters. I look forward to seeing these students at the ceremony.
Lastly, the students are hard at work to prepare for their winter holiday performances! Please note the date/time for your child’s grade level performance in the dates at the end of this message. The grade levels each perform separately so that there is enough seating in the Auditorium for all family members to attend. Students get to watch each other during dress rehearsals. Siblings will not be released from school or class to go and watch the performance.
Best,
Ms. Choi, Principal
