Thank you to the parents who attended the Every School Safe Series session this morning. We previewed the upcoming social emotional learning lesson for students on trusted adults and being an upstander. Handouts are available at the school website in Parent Resources. More school volunteers have completed their training and have been approved to begin volunteering on campus. We now have almost 60 cleared volunteers!
School Counselor, Ms. Ibarra, hosted events at recess this week to boost students mental well being. A lot of students participated and appeared to have fun. A photo has been added to the school website from recess today.
I also want to revisit the social media related concerns about school safety last week and in schools in nearby neighborhoods. The safety of our students and staff is my top priority. As a reminder, I encourage you and your students to report concerns directly. LAUSD has an anonymous reporting protocol called LASAR and you can download the app to report concerns. I also ask that you talk with your children about the impact of reposting and "sharing" social media threats with their friends and how it increases anxiety in our school community. Concerning posts are to be reported, not reposted. I appreciate your support.
The sign ups for the Kindness & Diversity event Apples & Honey this upcoming week on Thursday is almost full. Thank you for volunteering to support this event! Lastly, please join us on Friday for the PTA General Association meeting this Friday to participate in growing our school community.
